Hurricane Helene Update From Asheville
1 Min Read / Sauna HouseHello Sauna House friends and family.
I hope this message finds you and your (furry companions included!) safe in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Our thoughts go out to everyone impacted by this disaster. We have been the recipients of heartwarming support, and we are doing our best to reflect those good vibes back to the Greater Asheville Community. Altruism and resilience have been the themes since life in WNC was altered for the foreseeable future.
All Sauna House staff and contractors are accounted for, and while some have sustained significant damage to their homes, we’re thankful for their safety. Many have temporarily relocated outside the city, with Durham becoming a key hub for our operations.
As we’ve worked through the chaos the past two weeks, we wanted to share a few important updates:
- Refunds and Customer Support: For anyone who had booked visits prior to the hurricane, we’ve issued full refunds. We’re grateful for your understanding and patience.
- Pop-Up in Durham: We’ve launched a mobile Pop-Up site in Durham, where we are collecting essential supplies such as baby diapers, water, and purification tablets. If you’d like to help, you can register for the Pop-Up here.
- Community Rebuilding: Our entire team remains deeply committed to helping Asheville recover. In whatever form we are able to spin operations back up, we look forward to serving our community as part of our rebuilding process.
- Bathing Products Available: Fortunately, our product inventory was spared from damage, and we are still able to fulfill orders. If you’re able, we’d love your support through eCommerce purchases of our loved body oils and other bathing products. Every bit helps as we navigate this transition.
As mentioned, the Asheville bathhouse will remain closed for the foreseeable future. That said, our team is embracing a creative problem-solving mindset to help meet immediate needs in the community.
Since opening our doors in 2019, our success has been tied to providing a physical space for people to gather, connect and improve their overall wellbeing. While Asheville will remain closed for some time, our mission remains the same. We have already rekindled some of the magic we bottled in Asheville with our mobile sauna pop-up just half a block from our pending Durham location. We’ve been operating Thursday - Sunday, also using the site as a donation hub for relief items for those wanting to send their practical support west. We have already completed two trips, trailering water, electrolytes, batteries, medications and other helpful aid items.
Thank you for standing by us during this time. Together, we will work to rebuild, recover, and, of course, keep Asheville a little weird.
Stay safe, stay strong, and take care of each other.
With gratitude,
Andrew Lachlan, CEO & Founder
